Liverpool has announced its bespoke “Taylor Town Trail” ahead of Taylor Swift‘s sold-out I The Eras Tour arriving in the city from June 13-15. The Instagram-able experience is based around 11 art installations to entertain the 150,000 plus “Swifties” expected to travel to the city from across the world. The American pop phenomenon will play a hat-trick of sold-out shows at Liverpool FC’s Anfield stadium, with this being the first being her 100th date on The Eras Tour.
Liverpool City Council’s Culture Liverpool team has partnered with creative social enterprise Make CIC and a variety of artists and makers from across the Liverpool City Region to curate the installations. From a seven-foot-high butterfly, a moss-covered baby grand piano, two impressive murals, a floral swing bench and a red room, the city is turning itself into a week-long Swiftie paradise to enjoy and explore.
The Taylor Town Trail will run from Saturday, 8 June to Sunday, 16 June, and the trail programme, which can be accessed on the Visit Liverpool website, is centred around each installation being inspired by a different Taylor Swift era. As the latest event in the city’s ‘Liverpool Loves’ campaign, the aim is for the whole city to come alive for the concerts and highlight Liverpool as not only the UK’s best large city break but also the nation’s best major event city.
Businesses and organisations across the city are getting involved in the Liverpool Loves Taylor campaign, with submissions for related events, special offers and the Liverpool Loves Taylor marketing toolkit available. All events and offers will be linked on the Visit Liverpool website. Fans without concert tickets are advised not to head to the stadium or the surrounding areas, and there is strictly no camping permitted at the stadium or in the immediate vicinity, including local parks. Updates will be shared on @LFChelp on Twitter in the lead-up to the concerts and on each concert day.
Liverpool City Council’s Director for Culture, Claire McColgan, said: “The Taylor Town Trail is going to put Swifties in pure pop heaven! And even if you haven’t got a ticket to one of the concerts, it’s just going to be an unforgettable experience. As everyone saw with Eurovision last year, Liverpool knows how to embrace an event and transform it into something else entirely. We scousify and then let it fly!
