A woman who was formerly a primary school teacher was given a sentence of no less than 20 years in prison for murdering her partner, Nicholas Billingham. Fiona Beal, who was 50 years old at the time, failed to answer questions about the location of her partner for months after his absence was first noted. The partially mummified remains of the 42-year-old were discovered in the couple’s garden in Northampton in March of 2022, some four months after he was last seen by anyone in his circle of friends, family, or coworkers. Although he had been buried in the garden in a makeshift grave by Ms. Beal after she had attacked him, he was found by the police with the help of a forensic specialist who specialized in the recovery of buried murder victims.
