Max Richter, the renowned German-British composer and pianist, has announced his latest album, ‘In A Landscape.’ The record, released on September 6th via Decca, marks Richter’s ninth studio album. The composer has also released a first single from the album, ‘Movement, Before All Flowers.’
Described as an evolution in Richter’s musical journey, the press release noted that the new project will explore concepts of optimism and human emotion, using electronic sounds and field recordings. “It is a record about reconciling polarities, bringing together the electronic and the acoustic, the human and the natural world, the big questions of life and the quiet pleasures of living – a fleeting self-portrait of a musician in constant motion,” it reads.
Richter stated that the album is about reconciling polarities, explaining, “The electronics with the acoustic instruments, the natural world with the human world, and the big ideas of life with the personal and intimate.” He expanded that the new album shares some similarities with his 2004 album ‘The Blue Notebooks’ and is “another look at the themes of the earlier work, but from the perspective of our world and our lives in 2024.”
In conjunction with the album release, Richter has also unveiled his first-ever world tour. Set to run from September 2024 through May 2025, the tour will commence in Geneva, Switzerland, before landing in eight locations across the UK and Ireland, beginning at Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall. Following the UK leg of the tour, the composer will tour throughout Europe as well as Australia, before concluding in North America with nine final shows.
Tickets to all shows will go on sale on June 6th at 10 AM local time
