During an interview with GQ Magazine, actor Glen Powell recently shared that he missed out on a role in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film Oppenheimer. Despite expressing disappointment in not landing the role of Nobel-winning physicist Ernest Lawrence, Powell stated that he is still in contact with Nolan and remains hopeful that they will get to work together on another project soon.

Oppenheimer, which has already won seven Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Director for Nolan, is a movie about the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the father of the atomic bomb. In addition to its critical acclaim, the film has also become Nolan’s most successful box office hit overseas, grossing over $960 million worldwide to date.

Powell, who is best known for his role in Top Gun: Maverick, also shared a funny story about his co-star Tom Cruise during the interview. According to Powell, Cruise once pranked him by pretending to lose control of the helicopter they were riding in over London after a reshoot for the film. Despite fearing for his life for a brief moment, Powell expressed admiration for Cruise, who reportedly owns a helicopter and flies “actual jets.”

In addition to his role in Top Gun: Maverick, Powell also appeared in the film Hidden Figures, which he recently viewed for the first time. Powell admitted that watching himself on screen in the film resulted in feelings of nausea, saying that he “puked” over fears that he may have “ruined” the film
