Rising UK singer-songwriter Dylan, real name Natasha Katherine Woods, has given an interview to NME about her upcoming debut album. Speaking backstage at BBC Radio One’s Big Weekend in Luton, she revealed the album is coming “very soon” and that it is “the perfect representation of my personality”. Describing the album as “pop music, but you can tell that I was brought up with rock‘n’roll”, Woods added: “It’s very in your face… it’s a lot”.
The album features a mix of influences, said Woods, who cited Katy Perry and Lady Gaga as two of her inspirations, but also said that she goes into the recording studio with the mindset of AC/DC. She described her new single ‘Perfect Revenge’ as “my version of a disco song, so I want people to feel elevated by it”.
Woods previously broke into the top 20 of the UK album chart with her debut mixtape ‘The Greatest Thing I’ll Never Learn’ and has already headlined venues including London’s Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith. She also recently supported Ed Sheeran on his stadium tour. Watching Sheeran every night was surreal, said Woods. “He’s insanely talented,” she added.
She shared Sheeran’s top tip to her as a new artist – “to remember to stick up for yourself and do what feels true to you”. Woods also revealed her love of Taylor Swift’s latest album ‘The Tortured Poets Department’, saying that she thinks it’s “amazing”. Woods said that although she’s not yet met Swift, she would love to collaborate with her idol.
Woods concluded the interview by saying that she’s excited to be heading on a world tour and that she wants to headline Wembley one day. “I did it with Ed and that has really given me the hunger,” she said
