Actor-turned-musician Dylan Minnette has opened up about his decision to leave acting and focus entirely on music. The Wallows rocker found fame through his role in 13 Reasons Why but confessed that reaching peak acting success caused him to reconsider his priorities. The screen star acknowledged the fortune he had experienced through his work but admitted acting was beginning to feel like just a job.
Minnette and his bandmates Braeden Lemasters and Cole Preston aim to make music their number one priority with the band, giving their all to realise their full potential. The singer-songwriter expressed his desire to push Wallows as far as he can by putting his 100% into the band’s artistic direction, working tirelessly to showcase the group’s collective serious approach to their music.
Although Dylan hasn’t shut the door entirely on acting, it’s clear that he’s prioritising the band at this present time. However, he did express that he feels inspired to act again, and he firmly believes that he still has plenty to give to the film and TV industry. For now, though, the focus remains on Wallows.
Wallows recently released their new album Model, which featured indie-pop that reviewers felt lacked the risks the band seizes in some of the live shows. Although this latest release was still praised, critique highlighted the group will need to grow to make a lasting mark on the scene.
