Nicki Minaj’s Manchester Co-Op Live gig cancelled after Amsterdam arrest

Nicki Minaj’s scheduled show at Manchester’s Co-Op Live was cancelled after the rapper was arrested in Amsterdam earlier in the day. Minaj was caught in an arrest situation, live-streaming a group of Dutch police officers arresting her seemingly for carrying drugs while travelling between countries. Despite her best efforts, Minaj was unable to make it to the gig after the events in the Netherlands. The venue posted an official update saying, “Nicki Minaj’s scheduled performance at Manchester’s Co-Op Live on Saturday 25th May has been postponed. Tickets will remain valid for the rescheduled performance which will be announced ASAP.”

Doors at the Co-Op Live opened at 7 pm, with Minaj due on stage an hour later. However, as fans continued to wait, the announcement finally came at around 9:30 pm that Minaj would not be performing after all. This chain of events follows Manchester venue’s Co-Op Live’s opening last month, where shows by Peter Kay, The Black Keys, Olivia Rodrigo, and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie were forced to postpone.

Minaj’s current tour comes in celebration of her long-awaited ‘Pink Friday 2’ album, which arrived in December last year and received a four-star review from NME’s Nick Levine upon its release. Levine wrote: “‘Pink Friday 2’ feels like a consolidation and refinement of everything Minaj can do – including dropping pop culture references that no other artist would think of. Thirteen years after ‘Pink Friday’, Nicki Minaj hasn’t lost her ability to catch us by surprise.”

Minaj has been exploring every possible avenue to make tonight’s show happen but the events of today have made it impossible. Nicki’s best efforts used to follow her ongoing UK and European tour; however, she was unable to perform after Amsterdam’s event happened. The rapper livestreamed her own arrest, and the Dutch National Police Corps confirmed that she had been arrested but had since been released. Minaj asked for the address of the station they were going to, which they did not give, and the officers explained that they would try to help her get to her show in Manchester tonight
