The highly-anticipated fifth instalment in the Mad Max franchise will star Anya Taylor-Joy in the title role of Furiosa. Directed by George Miller, the film serves as a prequel to the 2015 hit film Mad Max: Fury Road, providing the backstory of the character originally played by Charlize Theron. Miller co-wrote the story of Furiosa with his Fury Road collaborator Nico Lathouris.
Joining Taylor-Joy in the cast are Chris Hemsworth, Alyla Browne, Tom Burke, Lachy Hulme, Nathan Jones, and Josh Helman. Other than the fact that the film explores the origins of the Furiosa character, the plot of the film remains tightly under wraps.
Following unconfirmed rumours and supposed leaks surrounding the conclusion of the film, Furiosa’s ending has now been revealed. After tracking down Dementus (played by Hemsworth) following a 40-day wasteland war, Furiosa confronts him and attempts to make him remember who she is. Dementus, who had kidnapped her years prior, is impressed by Furiosa and tells her that if she does things right, she could “become him.” In the final scene, Furiosa is shown smuggling Immortan Joe’s wives out of the Citadel in a war rig, which directly leads into Fury Road.
The post-credits scene for Furiosa is reportedly a brief one, with footage of a bobblehead from Nux’s car wobbling. The film is currently in production and its release date has not yet been announced. Fans of the Mad Max franchise will be eagerly anticipating its arrival
