Holidaymakers attempting to reach the continent via the Port of Dover are experiencing significant delays. The port reported waits of two hours at French border controls at around 8:15am on May 31, while ferries are accommodating passengers on their next available sailings. A spokesperson for the port reminded travellers to remain in their vehicles for safety reasons and thanked passengers for their patience.
Long delays at Dover come after the introduction of the Operation Brock traffic management plan, which covers a 13-mile stretch of the M20 between junctions 8 and 9, and will be in effect throughout the holiday weekend. Brock sees lorries queuing on one side of the motorway, while the other carriageway operates as a contraflow.
