Director Rian Johnson has announced that a third movie of his hit franchise, Knives Out, is on the way. The new instalment of the movie will be called Wake Up Dead Man. The announcement was made through a 45-second video on his official Twitter account. The clip featured narration from Daniel Craig, reprising his role of Benoit Blanc from the previous movies. Johnson’s tweet stated that the movie will be released in the year 2025 and will be distributed by Netflix. Aside from Craig’s return to the cast, no other casting or plot details were revealed for Wake Up Dead Man.
The announcement came when Johnson entered into a $450 million, two-sequel deal with the streaming platform. The movie is the third in the whodunnit series that Johnson has made. As per Variety, filming for the movie begins shortly, although no release date was revealed.
In a tweet earlier, Johnson expressed his love for the whodunnit genre and how it inspired him. He said, “We’re about to go into production on the 3rd one, and I’m very, very excited to share the title, which gives a little hint of where it’s going.” He believes that having a range of tones within the genre is one of the reasons why he loves everything about whodunnits as there is so much that can be done with it.
In 2022, Johnson revealed that he would continue to make more movies of the series as long as Daniel Craig was on board. With Craig’s return being confirmed by the filmmaker, fans of the series will undoubtedly be eagerly waiting for the upcoming release of the third instalment
