Kamaal Williams, a London-based electronic jazz musician, has cancelled all upcoming performances in Leeds, Manchester, London and Bristol following allegations of sexual assault made by three women. The accusations relate to incidents in 2010, 2021 and 2023 and are denied by Williams, who has confirmed that he intends to dispute them. The alleged victims, none of whom know each other, made similar claims to Resident Advisor when interviewed by the site; their accounts have been corroborated by friends.
The first complainant, who is anonymous, met Williams in 2010 when she was 17. Having bumped into him at a party, she accepted his invitation to pick up a scarf he said he’d left at his home; during the visit, she says he forced sexual activity on her. The second woman stated that Williams spiked her drink in August 2021 and then raped her. The third woman recounted how Williams insisted on driving her home from a studio session in August 2023 and later allegedly assaulted her in a hotel room.
Williams, whose real name is Henry Wu, played at the launch event for a London radio station in August 2021. At least two of the allegations concern events associated with that occasion.
