Here’s what Liam Hemsworth looks like as Henry Cavill’s replacement in ‘The Witcher’

Netflix has released the first promotional image of Liam Hemsworth in his role as Geralt of Rivia in the fourth season of its fantasy drama, The Witcher. Hemsworth replaced Henry Cavill in the lead role after Cavill announced he would be leaving the position in October 2022, citing creative differences. Hemsworth, known for his previous roles in The Hunger Games and Independence Day: Resurgence, was announced as Cavill’s replacement shortly after his departure.

Netflix has confirmed that the fifth season will be the final one, promising to offer an “epic and satisfying conclusion”. Writer Lauren Schmidt Hissrich has said that the show’s family of characters will be pushed to their “absolute limit” and that viewers should “stay tuned to see how the story ends”.

Fans can expect significant changes to the character of Ciri, played by Freya Allan, in the coming storyline. Allan, who spoke to NME in January, revealed that Ciri would be “completely different” by the end of the story, adding that the next chapter of the show will be “very different”. The show’s official description states that season four follows Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri as they traverse the war-ravaged Continent and encounter demons, facing trials apart from each other.

The Witcher has been one of Netflix’s most popular shows with viewers. Earlier this year, the streaming service reportedly revealed that the show was its second most-streamed production for 2021, after Bridgerton. The success of the show has led to a spin-off series, The Witcher: Blood Origin, which is set 1,200 years before the events of The Witcher. Henry Cavill is set to produce and appear in the show
