FromSoftware has released a new trailer for Shadow Of The Erdtree, the upcoming DLC of Elden Ring, giving fans of the game a glimpse of what to expect. The official description reads “The shadow of the story can now be told. Learn the history of the Realm of Shadow, the unseen land.” The three-minute trailer puts Elden Ring background character Miquella The Kind at center stage, with a voiceover teasing a tale of seduction, betrayal, and gold rising from an affair, alongside the rise of shadow, ultimately resulting in a war unseen.
George R.R. Martin contributed to Elden Ring’s development after being approached by FromSoftware to “create the backstory and history,” but it has been confirmed that he was not involved in the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion. The DLC is set to be the first and last for the game, emphasizing exploration and adventure within a single expansion instead of splitting it up into several parts.
Fans of the game have been eagerly speculating on the narrative expansions that Shadow Of The Erdtree will introduce, adding to the existing and already expansive lore. Many fans expect some sort of twist since this expansion is set to conclude this chapter of Elden Ring. FromSoftware head Hidetaka Miyazaki has hinted that a sequel to Elden Ring could be in the works, with the door being left open for new developments.
In other news, Baldur’s Gate 3 developer Larian Studios is opening a new studio in Poland to work on two new RPGs. The two games are expected to be “very ambitious,” continuing what has been an exciting announcement season for game developers and video game fans alike
