Laundry Day, a New York City band comprised of Jude Ciulla-Lipkin, Sawyer Nunes, Henry Pearl, and Henry Weingartner, recently opened up about some of the highlights of their career when they spoke with NME. The group has opened for Neon Trees, The 1975, and Clairo in the past, but the first half of 2024 brought them significant viral attention on TikTok.
Their covers of trending songs gained enormous traction online, leading to attention from the likes of The 1975’s Matty Healy and The Kid Laroi, and even praise from superstar Drake himself. Drake posted one of their songs, “Crazy, Stupid, Love,” and commented that he had been watching the band’s videos for a long time. This newfound popularity has opened up several opportunities, including opening for Teezo Touchdown on his UK and European tour.
The band has already enjoyed a sold-out homecoming gig and is now set to open for Ed Sheeran at his 10th-anniversary celebrations for his album “X” in Brooklyn. The band is thrilled to be playing such a significant event, and have even sold out a two-night run at Bowery Ballroom later this week. However, Laundry Day believes that staying grounded is crucial, and they intend to continue doing what they have always done, even as they gain more recognition.
Laundry Day credits their continued success to the trust they have developed between the four members over the years they have played together. Sawyer Nunes even admitted that opening for a megastar like Ed Sheeran was never something he would have imagined, stating that “He’s [Sheeran] someone I’ve always known about, and if we were to make a list of people we dream of opening for, he wouldn’t be on it in the sense that it feels so out of reach.”
