Police have confirmed that two women found dead in a house in Nottingham had “lain undiscovered for some time.” The incident began when police were called to concerns for people living in the house in Hartley Road, Radford. Two women were later found inside. Detective Chief Inspector Ruby Burrow stated that officers didn’t believe there was any immediate risk to the public, while investigations are ongoing. Radford is a district in Nottingham positioned to the western side of the city center.
Deborah Williams, a neighbor of the Jones family – who allegedly lived in the house where the bodies were found – said she had not seen or heard her neighbors for a few months. Williams described one of the women as “mild-mannered” and a person who “kept herself to herself.” The discovery of the bodies was termed as “shocking” by the shopkeeper at Food Basket African Butchers and Grocers, where the news broke to him first. “We saw a police car yesterday and this morning, I thought it was normal, routine,” he said. “It is surprising, it’s quite shocking,” he further added.
Detective Chief Inspector Ruby Burrow has said that her team is keeping an open mind towards the incident and will be working hard over the next few days to establish how and when these two women lost their lives. “In the meantime my thoughts – and those of every other officer involved in this investigation – are with those who have died, their family and friends,” she continued.
Police have cordoned the property where the women were found as investigations have continued. Anyone with information has been urged to contact the authorities as soon as possible.
