Taylor Swift, one of the world’s biggest pop stars, is scheduled to perform in Liverpool in June. To celebrate this event, the team behind the highly successful Eurovision Song Contest is planning to organize a special city-wide experience for the fans who are coming from around the world to see the sold-out shows at Anfield Stadium.
Dubbed the “Taylor Town Trail”, the event will feature 11 art installations, each inspired by a different era of the singer’s discography. Various locations across the city such as Liverpool ONE, Royal Albert Dock Liverpool, and Metquarter will host the exhibition of new works which depict the style and stories of each album, making them perfect “Swifties Selfie” locations.
Apart from the installations, Make CIC – a creative social enterprise – and several artists and makers from across Liverpool City Region will conduct a series of craft workshops called “Liverpool Loves Taylor (Craft Version)”, which will teach the participants how to create origami installations, upcycle denim, make collages, transform t-shirts, and decorate cupcakes inspired by Taylor Swift.
Meanwhile, organizations and businesses throughout the city will also take part in the Taylor festivities. The University of Liverpool is hosting a unique symposium called “Tay Day”, a free event for academics, students, and fans to unpack the cultural phenomenon that is Taylor Swift. The interactive event will feature critical karaoke sessions where researchers will perform their findings to some of Swift’s biggest hits.
There will also be a stand in operation at Liverpool Lime Street Station, which will serve as the central point where fans can get information on what is happening across the city and how to get to the concerts. An impressive Liverpool Loves Taylor banner has also been installed on the façade of St George’s Hall to welcome fans to the city
