England Euro 2024 squad: Jarell Quansah and Adam Wharton in provisional squad

Gareth Southgate, the current England football team manager, has handpicked four uncapped players for his provisional squad for Euro 2024. The new names are Jarrad Branthwaite, Curtis Jones, Jarell Quansah, and Adam Wharton. The squad will be officially confirmed on Tuesday at 14:00 BST.

Branthwaite, who plays defence in Everton, helped his team secure Premier League safety this season. Meanwhile, colleagues Quansah and Jones played a key role in Liverpool’s third-place finish in the top flight. Wharton, who transferred from Blackburn Rovers to Crystal Palace during the winter transfer window, shows enormous promise as he impressed during his time at Crystal Palace. Several of his teammates, Eberechi Eze, Marc Guehi, and Dean Henderson have also earned a spot in Southgate’s provisional squad.

Chelsea centre-back, Levi Colwill, West Ham striker Jarrod Bowen, and goalkeeper James Trafford of Burnley are also included in the training squad, which comprises of around 30 players.

The lead-up to Euro 2024 features some friendlies and early stages matches that will all play out in June. The schedule includes Bosnia-Herzegovina on 3 June, Iceland on 7 June, Serbia on 16 June, Denmark on 20 June, and Slovenia on 25 June.

Jordan Henderson, the midfielder from Ajax, has reportedly been overlooked for the squad, along with Chelsea’s winger Raheem Sterling. No excuses have been made for their exclusion
