Anthrax’s Joey Belladonna announces new Dio tribute band

Joey Belladonna, the lead singer of Anthrax, has announced the formation of a new band dedicated to the music of the late metal icon Ronnie James Dio. Belladonna revealed on social media that he and his wife Krista will be performing four shows in August as they pay tribute to Dio. The group will play songs from the late singer’s solo career, as well as his time with Black Sabbath and Rainbow. Belladonna will tackle many of Dio’s classic releases, including “Holy Diver” and “Heaven and Hell.”

All four of the Dio tribute concerts are scheduled to take place in different cities across Florida. The first performance will occur on August 15 at Captain Hiram’s in Sebastian, followed by Piper’s Pub in Pompano Beach on August 16. OCC Road House in Clearwater will be the site of the third performance on August 17 before the tour finishes up at Conduit in Winter Park on August 18.

Tickets for Joey Belladonna’s Ronnie James Dio tribute concerts will be available for purchase soon from his official website. It’s worth noting that Dio passed away in 2010 following a battle with stomach cancer. His career spanned five decades, from the 1950s to the early 2000s. In addition to fronting groups such as Black Sabbath, Elf, Rainbow, and Heaven and Hell, Dio was a towering figure in the world of heavy metal.

Anthrax, which hails from New York, was formed in 1981 and is renowned as one of the Big Four of thrash metal alongside Metallica, Slayer, and Megadeth. The band has released eleven studio albums to date, with their most recent being 2016’s “For All Kings.” Although Belladonna is best known as the frontman of Anthrax, the tribute concerts will give him the chance to showcase his admiration for one of metal’s greatest performers
