The countdown to Vince Staples’ newest album, “Dark Times,” has officially begun. In what he claims to be his final release with Def Jam Records, Staples is gearing up for the unveiling of his upcoming project this Friday, May 28th. The release will follow his most recent album, “Ramona Park Broke My Heart,” which came out in 2022.
The rapper broke the news to his fans on Instagram, where he shared the trailer for “Dark Times.” In the accompanying caption, he reflected on his ten-year journey with Def Jam Records, where he started after releasing “Shyne Coldchain Vol 2” in 2011. He went on to say that he was “deeply aware of what [he] needed: a change in [his] surroundings and a clear understanding of self” before finding clarity in his music.
“Dark Times” is already highly anticipated, with Staples having released the first single from the album, “Shame on the Devil,” accompanied by a 50-second music video. The rapper has also kept busy with a few collaborations since his last album, having worked with Earl Sweatshirt and the Alchemist on “The Caliphate” in 2021 before returning for a joint project with the Alchemist titled “Lonnie P” in 2023.
To promote “Dark Times,” Staples has announced that he will embark on a tour across the UK and Europe in June, starting in Cologne on June 4th before moving onto Berlin, Manchester, London, and more. Tickets can be purchased on his website.
Fans who want to get an early taste of the album can stream “Shame on the Devil” on all major streaming services. Pre-orders for “Dark Times” are now available through Staples’ website
