Jon Wysocki, the original Staind drummer, has died aged 53

The music world was saddened by the news of Jon Wysocki’s passing at the age of 53. The founding member and drummer of Staind died on Saturday, May 18th. Although the official cause of death hasn’t been confirmed, it has been reported that Wysocki had been suffering from liver issues that required medical attention.

Wysocki’s bandmates from current and previous projects have paid tribute to the late drummer via social media, with Lydia’s Castle and Soil offering condolences and describing him as a fantastic friend and musician. Staind posted a tribute on social media as well, speaking of the band’s origins and time spent with Wysocki as being some of the best memories they shared.

Wysocki first joined Staind in the mid-90s, staying with the nu-metal group through 2011. During his tenure with the band, he was a part of their first seven albums including chart-toppers like Break The Cycle, 14 Shades of Grey, and Chapter V. In 2011, Wysocki left Staind, citing his discomfort with fame. He went on to play with Lydia’s Castle and Soil up until his passing.
