After a long hiatus, Head Automatica, the band led by Glassjaw’s Daryl Palumbo, has come back with their latest music release ‘Bear The Cross’, marking their first new release since 2006. The band emerged from their long break last year, performing a series of shows around the US. Presently, the band features Daryl Palumbo, Richard Flesh (bass), Craig Bonich (guitar), Chad Hasty (drums), and Eric Mitchell (electronics).
‘Bear The Cross’ is a moody, prowling track with dusty, trip-hop beats and industrial, echo-laden guitar stabs. Palumbo stated: “To me, ‘Bear The Cross’, is both a logical and unexpected evolution of Head Automatica’s sound…The sounds and ideas are recognizable, but your personality and creative leanings transform with time, which gives it an exciting urgency and boldness.”
The band will perform several shows later this month, as well as their first New York gigs in 14 years and their double appearance at the UK’s Slam Dunk Festival. Head Automatica formed in 2004, and they released two studio albums together: 2004’s ‘Decadence’, followed by ‘Popaganda’ two years later. ‘Bear The Cross’ marks their first release since the latter album.
Last summer, Palumbo collaborated with Bring Me The Horizon and Lil Uzi Vert on the single ‘AmEN!’, a powerful track addressing the theme of extra-religious hypocrisy
