Here’s why ‘A Gentleman In Moscow’ season two probably won’t happen

A new TV series has emerged based on the bestseller novel by Amor Towles, A Gentleman in Moscow, with the lead character Count Alexander Ilyich Rostov played by Ewan McGregor. Set in Russia following the Bolshevik revolution, after Rostov is arrested by a Soviet tribunal, he is forced to live in a hotel attic. Aside from carrying out the lead role, McGregor also executive produces together with Ben Vanstone, Tom Harper, and others.

A few cast members include Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Fehinti Balogun, Daniel Cerquieria, Bjorn Hlynur Haraldsson, Johnny Harris, Leah Harvey and Josh Heffernan. However, in contrast to other limited series that received a renewal for another season, it is not likely A Gentleman in Moscow will return for season two.

While the door is not fully closed on the possibility of renewal, the storyline of the novel is entirely covered in the show, which would make it difficult to produce subsequent episodes without new source material. The eight-episode limited series is available on Paramount+ and concluded on 17 May.

Apart from his portrayal of Rostov, McGregor will star in an upcoming science fiction movie entitled Flowervale Street, directed by David Robert Mitchell, alongside Anne Hathaway and Maisy Stella, set for release on 16 May 2025
