2K Games has announced that it will reveal a new game in a “beloved” franchise during a Summer Games Fest event set to take place on June 7. There is no information available yet about what game this might be, but 2K has several titles that could fit the description.
One possibility is Borderlands 4, which was confirmed earlier this year by 2K after the company purchased Gearbox Studios for £365million. A movie adaptation of the Borderlands franchise is also scheduled for release on August 9. When asked about the new game, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford didn’t provide any concrete details, but did offer that “it’s the greatest thing we’ve ever done.”
Another potential candidate for the announcement is the next game in the BioShock franchise, which has been in development by new studio Cloud Chamber since 2019. A report from 2021 suggested that the game would be set in a 1960s Antarctic city, but little else has been confirmed so far.
Finally, some fans believe that the announcement could be for Mafia 4, as work on a new entry in the franchise was confirmed by developer Hangar 13 in August of 2022.
Whatever game 2K announces, fans of the company’s work will undoubtedly be eagerly anticipating the reveal during the Summer Games Fest event
