Liverpool City Council has appointed Avison Young as its Strategic Property Partner in an effort to progress the development of the authority’s property portfolio. Avison Young, which already has a strong presence in the region, will use its knowledge to support the council in delivering ambitious plans for further investment and improvements to spaces and buildings over the next three years. The firm has already been managing the council-owned Spine building in the Knowledge Quarter since January and will now work to improve commercial return from its property portfolio, including the Grade I listed Cunard building to Croxteth Country Hall.
The appointment comes on the eve of the UK’s leading real estate and property event, UKREiiF, and follows announcements that Liverpool City Council’s commissioner-led intervention will finish in June 2024. The Council’s Cabinet has also approved the introduction of a Property Improvement Plan, enabling the council to accelerate regeneration priorities, drive investment, support local businesses and promote better outcomes for communities.
Avison Young will support the Council to implement the Property Improvement Plan and co-design the development of a strategic approach to the management of its property assets. The firm will also design and roll out a new Corporate Landlord model and provide real estate advice on the Council’s workplace strategy.
Councillor Nick Small, Cabinet Member for Growth and Economy at Liverpool City Council, said, “This partnership… will help us to develop and deliver plans that unlock an ambitious and exciting future for the city at this critical juncture… We look forward to working in partnership with Avison Young, engaging collaboratively… to shape planning and policy that drives forward positive change at pace.”
