Help I Sexted My Boss, the popular comedy podcast hosted by etiquette expert William Hanson and radio presenter Jordan North, will be broadcast live from London’s Palladium to 400 cinemas across the UK, Ireland, and select European cities. The move is believed to be the first time a British podcast has been transmitted live to cinemas. The podcast, which deals with modern-day dilemmas, has more than three million monthly downloads and has notched up a large following among working-class audiences as well as the middle class, according to North.
Hanson and North are surprised best friends, the former having grown up looking on his parents buying a car for their pet dog as an everyday occurrence, while North remembers being bathed in the kitchen sink by his mother. They met when North was doing work experience at a BBC studio, and the pair launched their podcast in 2018. The live show, which sold out in three hours, will enable fans, dubbed G&Divas, to participate.
North, who recently left BBC Radio 1 to host Capital Radio’s flagship breakfast show, says G&Z are more socially liberal and relaxed than previous generations and want to be treated with respect, making etiquette training increasingly relevant. Hanson’s The English Manner is an etiquette training institute, and he has become famous on TikTok for his tips. North, for his part, has had his radio presenting skills honed by Hanson, most notably learning techniques on eye contact and remembering names.
