Liverpool City Region is set to host its biggest Pride event ever this summer, with Katrina, the former lead singer of Katrina and the Waves, announced as headline act. Katrina, who rose to fame in 1997 after winning the Eurovision Song Contest with “Love Shine a Light”, will perform on the main stage of the free-to-attend Pride in Liverpool festival, which takes place on July 27. Organisers LCR Pride Foundation confirmed that Katrina’s headline performance as well as the rest of the day’s programme will be free to attend, following the announcement of an additional day and ticketed fundraiser the night before, Pride Classical. The fund-raiser is aimed at raising awareness of issues still faced by the LGBT+ community.

Andi Herring, CEO of LCR Pride Foundation, emphasised the increasing importance of Pride in Liverpool as a way of promoting diversity globally, adding that the festival remained free to attend so everyone could enjoy the day. Registration is open for anyone who would like to participate in the march, which begins at St George’s Hall Plateau before making its way to the Liverpool Waterfront. Performers and traders can find out more information at prideinliverpool.co.uk.
