Secret Garden Party announces line-up, drops headliner to support grassroots artists

This year’s Secret Garden Party festival is taking a unique approach to programming by exclusively booking grassroots artists for its 2024 event. The festival is supporting venue Chai Wallahs’ “Drop a Headliner” campaign, which aims to nurture homegrown talent. 350 artists are set to play across the weekend, including Unkle, Crystal Fighters, Chinchilla, Carly Wilford, Adelphi Music Factory, Frankie Wah, and Jakkob. Collectives such as The Living Room, Save Our Scene, Dubtendo, Noiganica, and Parable Music will also be involved.

The festival, themed Secret Garden Party: Roots, aims to feature an expanded line-up traversing genres including disco, house, techno, UKG, drum ‘n’ bass, and beyond, and will welcome back favorite areas from previous years, such as The Lost Woods, Doghouse, The Garden Shed, and The Pagoda. “We believe in being a breeding ground for talent to grow,” says SGP founder Fred Fellowes.

Chai Wallahs founder Si Chai says, “There is so much more enjoyment to be had in the discovery of new music, and please trust me when I say that there is a massive world of undiscovered talent. For the grassroots scene to survive and thrive, this talent needs platforms and opportunities to be able to develop, so we must address the disparity.” Chai goes on to explain that this campaign highlights the opportunities for programmers to be more creative with their million-pound budgets.

Roots don’t grow unless you feed them, and the 2024 Secret Garden Party festival is sure to provide grassroots artists with the ability to shine. Tickets for the festival are available now, and you can check out the full lineup on the festival’s website
