London-based event series Dancing Family has taken a new approach to promoting their parties, with a switch in their party format. The “Family b2bs Only” event welcomes DJs who are ready for a track-for-track showdown, demonstrating the spirit of musical appreciation and the celebration of togetherness. Dancing Family was originally created by a group of siblings, but co-founder Fita wants the term ‘family’ to extend to all chosen families and relatives as well. The Carpet Shop in Peckham will serve as the venue for this series of events.
DJ Angel d’Lite will be performing her set in a family b2b with FAFF, while siblings Iona b2b calan will go head-to-head, as will Yohan b2b Lucia and Fita b2b LaDimi. The first instalment of events will take place on May 31. The new party format will provide an inclusive family rave experience for attendees.
Fita said, “We’re trying to create a space that feels inclusive for family raving. One of the reasons that we started Dancing Family was to allow our sibling relationship to develop within the realm of the music industry. Some of my fondest dancing memories have been while surrounded by people that I consider to be my family. When different generations come together and let go through music. Why not take this experience and introduce it to the club scene? If we’re going to speak about safe spaces, it’s important to speak about what makes us feel safe in the clubbing environment. Dancing with my family is one of those things.”
The event has a powerful message as it emphasizes the importance of bonding within the community and transcends the barriers of blood relations, welcoming our comrades in music as our chosen family. As a result, the popularity of these events is expected to rise, and the music enthusiasts can brace themselves for a unique experience. Tickets for the first “Family b2bs Only” event on May 31 are already available, and you can grab them here
