Speed Dealer Moms shares latest EP, ‘Birth Control Pill’

The latest EP from Speed Dealer Moms, entitled ‘Birth Control Pill’, has finally been released by the live electronic project. The masterminds behind the project are John Frusciante of Trick Finger and Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Aaron Funk of Venetian Snares. The EP only contains two tracks, which are indicative of their usual finely-tuned chaos that fans have come to adore. The EP title track, ‘Birth Control Pill’ is the most functional cut shared by the duo, with its precise melodies and synth patterns, clattering drums, and a drum ‘n’ bass and jungle-meets-breakcore energy.

The accompanying music video for the title track is bizarre and described in its caption as a visualiser that “doggie paddles in primordial ooze”. The B-side, ‘Benakis’, however, embraces the madness and rule-defying of the electronic project by working around an unconventional time signature and intricate melodies. The track starts off with breakcore and hard techno, before smoothly transitioning into a dreamlike beatless finale.

The latest EP from Speed Dealer Moms marks only their third release in over a decade of music-making. Fans have been clamoring for new music from the project, and it seems that with this release, they will not be disappointed. Those interested in listening to the ‘Birth Control Pill’ EP can access it through Venetian Snares’ Bandcamp page.
