In honour of its 50th anniversary, it has been announced that the popular TV show, Saturday Night Live, will air a three-hour primetime special on NBC. The tribute is scheduled to air on February 16, 2025, and will be part of a weekend of celebrations for the show. Although no further details have been released, the creator of the show, Lorne Michaels, had previously hinted at plans for such a special earlier in the year.

NBC had previously run a tribute for the show’s 40th anniversary which featured appearances from countless SNL alumni including Eddie Murphy, Steve Martin, Billy Crystal, Will Ferrell, Norm MacDonald, and Tina Fey. The celebrations are set to be a star-studded event with actors Gabriel LaBelle, Dylan O’Brien, Nicholas Braun, and Finn Wolfhard all starring in the upcoming film. In addition to this, Bill Murray has even weighed in on who he thinks should play him. During the current 49th season of the show, Maya Rudolph is scheduled to host the upcoming episode with Vampire Weekend as the musical guest, before Jake Gyllenhaal takes on hosting duties with Sabrina Carpenter playing live for the season finale.

Last week’s episode saw Chloe Fineman poke fun at JoJo Siwa’s new rebrand with a KISS-inspired make-up and black and silver sparkly bodysuits spoofing her recent single, ‘Karma’. JoJo Siwa herself responded to the skit calling it “ICONIC” and saying she didn’t know what to say about it
