Cumbria Police confirmed that human remains, found in the woods, are those of Paul Taylor, who disappeared on October 17, 2023. Human remains were discovered in Finglandrigg Wood, just outside Carlisle, earlier this May. Officials asked the public to refrain from approaching this location. A month after Mr. Taylor’s disappearance, the Cumbria Police upgraded the investigation to a murder inquiry. Two teenagers were arrested, one of whom was charged with murder, and another with assisting an offender.
Before driving to England from Scotland, Paul Taylor, who is 56-years-old, was last seen at his home in Annan on 17 October 2023, at 21:45 GMT. The relatives of Mr. Taylor have been informed of the discovery of the missing man’s remains. No further details of the events leading up to his death, or how and when the remnant was found, have been disclosed.
The people of England and Scotland are requested to be patient as the inquiry is still ongoing and has moved up to a murder investigation. Therefore, people are urged to extend their full support to the officials. Mr. Taylor’s loved ones, who had lived in a state of uncertainty since he was first reported missing last year, can now rest assured that his remains have been found, and his untimely passing can be accounted for. Our thoughts are with them during this distressing time.
BBC Cumbria has been following the story and asking the public to come forward with any leads that might help them to solve the crime.
