Liverpool City Council has announced plans to host a new market in one of the city’s most iconic locations, and it is now inviting traders to participate in the event. The market will take place at St George’s Hall, a Grade I-listed neoclassical building. It will be held for the first time on Sunday 16 June, and traders are invited to apply to join the inaugural event. The council’s markets team is seeking craft and artisanal traders selling clothing, accessories, jewellery, food and drink, with hot food vendors welcome on only the outside stalls.
70 tables will be located inside the building, with approximately 20 stalls outside on the Lime Street corner of the plateau. Stalls will be arranged both inside and outside the hall. The charges for stalls are: £60 + VAT for indoor stalls, £70 + VAT for outdoor stalls, and £80 + VAT for outdoor stalls selling hot food. The deadline for applications is Friday, 31 May.
St George’s Hall Market will be free to anyone who wants to attend, with the venue open from 10:30 am to 4:40 pm. It is scheduled to be held four times a year on a seasonal basis. Liverpool already hosts several other markets, including the weekly Great Homer Street Market and a regular programme of farmers’ and craft markets.
Cllr. Harry Doyle, Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing and Culture, expressed his happiness in the announcement of this new event and encouraged traders to apply. He also pointed out that the Christmas markets held in the area outside St George’s Hall and St John’s Gardens over the past few years have been a great success and expressed confidence that this new event will have the same impact
