Real-life Martha from ‘Baby Reindeer’ sends message to Richard Gadd: “Get a life”

Fiona Harvey, who has come forward claiming to be the real-life Martha depicted in the Netflix hit series Baby Reindeer, has denied many aspects of the story and has threatened creator Richard Gadd with legal action. The show is based on Gadd’s experiences being stalked by an older woman named Martha. Harvey, a Scottish lawyer, appeared on Piers Morgan Uncensored to discuss the details behind the show and gave a message to its creator and star. When asked what she’d say to Gadd, Harvey responded: “Leave me alone please, get a life, get a proper job.” She added: “I am horrified at what you’ve done.”

Harvey confirmed that neither herself nor her partner, who is also a lawyer, would be taking the case, but that she is “exploring all the options out there,” adding that “there are a number of people to sue.” Furthermore, when asked whether she would “categorically be taking legal action,” Harvey responded: “Absolutely, against both him [Gadd] and Netflix.” This follows Harvey’s recent interview with the Daily Record, where she dismissed the series as “a load of rubbish” and explained confirming her identity, saying “people have to know what is going on.” She also stated: “I’m a perfectly capable lawyer, so I will represent myself,” saying “Gadd needs to prove I went to jail which just didn’t happen. I’ve never been sent to jail.”

Gadd recently revealed that he never saw the real-life Martha as “a villain” and it is unclear how her claims will impact the future of the show. Baby Reindeer became a runaway hit, topping UK viewership charts for the last three weeks. Its semi-autobiographical plot bears many similarities to Gadd’s own experiences of being pursued and manipulated by a woman who was a business associate of his family when he was just 20 years old.

However, Harvey has denied many aspects of the story depicted in the show, including claims that she was arrested and imprisoned over Gadd’s stalking allegations. Despite this, both Gadd and Netflix have not yet publicly responded to Harvey’s claims. The situation is ongoing, and it remains to be seen how it will develop
