During an interview with The Guardian, Jonny Greenwood has given Radiohead fans an update on the band’s future. He revealed that while Radiohead has not been making new music recently, all the members are staying busy with other projects, including his own work on an eight-hour church organ piece called 268 Years Of Reverb.
Greenwood stated that The Smile, a side project featuring Thom Yorke and Sons of Kemet drummer Tom Skinner, are on tour, Ed O’Brien is making another solo record while Colin Greenwood is playing bass with Nick Cave. Meanwhile, Greenwood himself is busy experimenting with various instruments in his home studio in Oxford.
Radiohead drummer Philip Selway had earlier teased that Radiohead was in the early stages of preparing to reunite and make new music, stating that the band had taken a break and was interested in exploring new directions in their music. However, Ed O’Brien later clarified that there was “no Radiohead at the moment.”
Despite the uncertainty surrounding the band’s future, Colin Greenwood has announced the release of a new photo book about his life with the band, called How To Disappear. Radiohead fans can pre-order the book, which is set to hit shelves on October 15.
While it is still unclear when fans can expect new music from Radiohead, Greenwood’s interview has given insight into the individual projects that he and his bandmates are pursuing.
