An artist due to perform at The Great Escape festival, who was considering boycotting the event due to its sponsorship by Barclays amid the events in Gaza, has received advice from Nick Cave. A number of acts scheduled to play the 2024 edition of the festival have already withdrawn in protest. The artist contacted Cave, asking “What would you do?” and describing the struggle to promote their music in an industry where individuality feels uncelebrated. Cave responded succinctly with “Play. Love, Nick.”
