Hot Since 82 “lucky to be alive”, cancels shows after gunmen attempted car-jacking in Brazil

DJ Hot Since 82 has recently canceled his upcoming shows at Time Warp Festival and Warung Festival following an attempted car-jacking by gunmen in Brazil. Although his real name is Daley Padley, he shared this news with his fans on Instagram, stressing that ”no DJ show or fee is worth it”. Meanwhile, he opened up about the scary event that took place on May 3rd in Rio De Janeiro, saying that he was “feeling very broken” and “feeling very lucky to be alive”.

According to his Instagram post, several armed men, with AK-47s, pursued his tour vehicle, which was leaving his show in the Brazilian seaside city at around 5 am. On a busy motorway, in the dark, the armed men drove ahead of them and “braked for them to stop,” while several staff members were seen wearing balaclavas, pushing their guns via the protruding angles of the car window.

“They knew precisely where we were, what car, and where we were going to be at what time,” he said, suspecting that their attackers had set them up. Fortunately, the driver managed to reverse through the heavy traffic, weaving in and out of cars for miles, allowing them to escape from the threat alive. Hot Since 82 thanked his driver for his heroic maneuvers that saved them from what could have been a traumatic assault.

While speaking with concern about the future of his life, the DJ admitted that he had great fun in Brazil, but could not say if he would ever return to the country. He added, “Going to a club to DJ should be about happiness and bringing joy to people’s lives, not leaving a club and wondering if I’m going to get home safe.” Hot Since 82 has kids and a wife (who has six weeks left to deliver their next baby) and stated that he could not risk being in such a precarious circumstance again
