Jay Electronica has recently taken to Twitter to hint that he supports Drake in his ongoing feud with Kendrick Lamar. The two rappers have been exchanging diss tracks and insults for weeks now, with Lamar recently accusing Drake of being a sexual predator with a secret daughter in his latest diss track, ‘Meet the Grahams.’ In response, Drake released his own diss track, ‘The Heart Part 6,’ in which he suggested that Lamar’s disses were based on false information.
Louisiana rapper Jay Electronica shared two tweets that fans are interpreting as his way of supporting Drake. In one, he tweeted “Good Night and Good Luck,” which is also the name of Drake’s first-ever diss track. In the other, he tweeted a clip from the 1982 film ‘First Blood’ from the Rambo film franchise, in which a commander warns a sheriff not to challenge a veteran. This could be related to Drake’s lyrics on his diss track, where he asks, “What the fuck is this, a 20-v-1, n***a?”
Jay Electronica has a history of sending jabs at Kendrick Lamar. In 2016, he called him out on a track, rapping, “How you gon’ compare the king to a gnome? / How you gon’ compare Jango Fett to the clones?” This led Lamar’s manager and former TDE executive Dave Free to call Electronica a “desperate housewife” who was “still mad about ‘Control’.” Lamar’s ‘Control’ verse is infamous in rap history, with the Compton rapper namechecking top rappers at the time and claiming they were no match for him.
Drake also responded to Lamar’s ‘Control’ verse in an interview with Billboard, saying, “I know good and well that Kendrick’s not murdering me, at all, in any platform.” Meanwhile, Lamar boosted the business of a Toronto Chinese restaurant called New Ho King after mentioning them on his song ‘Euphoria.’ As the feud continues to play out, it remains to be seen if other rappers will take sides and add fuel to the fire
