However, the singer joked about the perceived reputation during the monologue, stating that it was the “greatest meme of all time” and promising to give everything in her performance.
During the same show, Lipa also showcased two songs from her latest album ‘Radical Optimism’ – ‘Illusion’ and ‘Happy For You’. The singer recently spoke with The Guardian about how hurtful she found the meme and the negative comments that followed: “It was humiliating. When I won the best new artist Grammy, people were like, ‘She’s not deserving of it, she’s got no stage presence, she’s not going to stick around.’ Those things were hurtful.” She highlighted that she had to distance herself from Twitter due to the attacks on her work and had to learn in public at the age of 22-23 years old.
