The annual Belfast City Marathon has taken place with a record number of participants aiming to complete the 26.2-mile course. The event caused significant traffic disruption as the route weaved its way through the city, past cheering crowds who had turned out to watch their friends and family run. The winners were Kenyans Mathew Kiplimo Kembo and Beatrice Jepkemei, who took the top spots in the men’s and women’s races respectively. Over 5,000 marathon participants, as well as 12,500 relay runners, each running one of five legs of the route, were taking part. Additionally, more than 1,000 participants took part in an eight-mile walk.
