Monstera Black and alys(alys)alys have recently teamed up to release their collaborative EP ‘Awkward Attraction.’ The six-track album explores, deconstructs and embraces pop music to operate an unconventional and anticipatory sonic palette. The melodies are intertwined with a darker club-oriented, experimental soundscape to express themes of existence and vulnerability.
Monstera Black explains that “‘Awkward Attraction’ is an EP that tries to capture a glimpse on the stages of attraction, from searching for a deeper connection to moments of self-awareness, transforming into playful admissions in the conclusive track ‘Who’s A Hoe?’. The instrumental style of Alys sets the tone to create a melodic exploration that is alienating yet sing-songy, allowing me to capture my inner emotions. The vocals are warped, bantering, sometimes melody, others spoken word. My intent was to capture how uncomfortable and awkward yet liberating feeling an attraction can be.”
The EP is available now via Voitax Records. You can find it on Spotify, and other streaming platforms, with ease. Make sure to check it out and experience a pop album like never before.
