Maya Rudolph and Jake Gyllenhaal will be hosting the final two episodes of Saturday Night Live’s 49th season, according to an announcement from the hit NBC variety show. Maya Rudolph will present next week’s episode on May 11, marking the fourth time Vampire Weekend will appear on SNL since first performing in 2008. Vampire Weekend will showcase music from their fifth album “Only God Was Above Us.”
Jake Gyllenhaal will provide hosting duties for the season finale on May 18th, his third time hosting after previously leading episodes in 2007 and 2022. Sabrina Carpenter will make her SNL debut during the finale when she takes to the stage to perform live. Carpenter recently released the hit single “Espresso” and played at Coachella 2024.
Dua Lipa performed on the May 4th episode of SNL to support her third album “Radical Optimism,” released on May 3rd. It marked the singer’s third time on the show as the musical guest and her first time hosting. Vampire Weekend kicked off a run of North American dates last month with a special show in Austin, Texas, which coincided with a total solar eclipse.
The band made a last-minute surprise appearance at the first weekend of Coachella 2024, where Paris Hilton joined them onstage. Ezra Koenig and company recently added an extra London date to their 2024 UK and Ireland headline tour. They are set to perform at Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Luton later this month, as well as Primavera Sound, Kilby Block Party, and Hinterland.
