NIKS has announced the upcoming release of her debut EP, Milieau on May 17th via Céad imprint, founded by Or;la. The EP will take listeners through a journey of different musical spaces associated with NIKS and her inspirations. Milieau includes four electric tracks, ‘V2B,’ ‘And Chill,’ ‘Sequences,’ and ‘Stomp The Grid,’ which features collaboration with Or;la.
The Black Artist Database (B.A.D.) co-founder announced the EP alongside the release of ‘V2B’, which she described as the “opener for the peak time club” and creates a sense of urgency with its dynamism. The single features a mix of violins, cowbells, drums, vocals, alarms, and bass, working together to create a non-stop feeling captured with synths in the latter half to provide a floaty feel.
NIKS launched B.A.D. in 2020, with its objective being a platform to champion black voices in the music scene. In 2023, she launched the B.A.D. label, working as its manager and A&R. ‘Milieau’ follows NIKS’s debut release, ‘Badness, Can’t Work,’ the first release of B.A.D., and her two subsequent self-released singles, ‘Riding Senses’ and ‘Mimi’s Woo’ via Earful of Wax.
