The Co-Op Live Arena in Manchester, which has faced numerous issues since it was supposed to open last month, was in the limelight again when they cancelled A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie’s gig ten minutes after doors opened due to a “venue-related technical issue”. The following day, Co-Op Live confirmed that Olivia Rodrigo’s shows on May 3-4 would also be postponed. The troubled arena has been beset by various problems, including rows, controversy and teething problems, since it was supposed to open last month. Liam Gallagher is scheduled to perform at Co-Op Live on June 15-16 and 27-28 for his ‘Definitely Maybe’ anniversary tour. However, Gallagher jokingly offered to perform in a Lidl store if the venue still isn’t “sorted” by the time his tour comes around.
Gallagher was asked by a fan on Twitter what he would do if the venue still wasn’t “sorted” by the time his tour comes around, to which he jokingly replied: “Gig in LIDL.” When another fan suggested he could play in Tesco, he wrote: “Fuck tesco c**ts.” Even Lidl’s official Twitter account joined in, suggesting a setlist full of supermarket puns for a potential Liam Gallagher show, including ‘Champagne Superoffer’, ‘Super(market) Sonic’, and ‘Some Might Save’.
The tour is taking place to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Oasis’ seminal album, with Gallagher promising to perform “naughty” B-sides from the era and ‘Half The World Away’ sung by his brother, former bandmate, and Oasis chief songwriter Noel. Full dates to the ‘Definitely Maybe 30 Years’ UK and Ireland tour have been released, with remaining tickets available online. Meanwhile, Manchester’s AO Arena will now host the gig from A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie that was cancelled last-minute at the Co-Op Live Arena. Keane’s show at Co-Op Live may also be rearranged and held at AO Arena
