The Xbox Games Showcase will be notable for featuring games developed by Activision Blizzard, following Microsoft’s recent acquisition of the company. Fans are expecting to see footage from the next Call of Duty game during the event, which is rumoured to take place during the Gulf War and include a “nuanced narrative”. It is also anticipated that the showcase will provide news on the next Gears of War and Indiana Jones titles, as well as updates about Avowed and Microsoft Flight Simulator.
Microsoft has remained tight-lipped on the details of the Direct presentation that is set to follow the showcase. However, the company has hinted that the event will offer a deep-dive into a particular franchise, with comparisons made to the previous Starfield Direct that took place in 2023. Many fans believe that the franchise in question is likely to be Call of Duty.
