Ghost announce details of debut feature film ‘RITE HERE RITE NOW’

Swedish metal band Ghost have announced details of their debut feature film, titled RITE HERE RITE NOW. The film will mark the first time the band has created such a feature and will present footage from their shows at The Forum in Los Angeles. Directed by frontman Tobias Forge and American actor and filmmaker Alex Ross Perry, the film includes a narrative which intertwines with the band’s long-running webisode series. The final result is a “phantasmagorical blend” of favourites from all five of Ghost’s albums, as well as a story about Papa Emeritus IV and his future.

Set to premiere worldwide next month, the concert footage in the film is from Ghost’s two sold-out shows at Los Angeles’ Kia Forum last September and marks the culmination of their ‘RE-IMPERATOUR U.S.A’ run. Forge explained in a statement that the idea for the film came from a conversation with the owner and CEO of Loma Vista, who wanted to know the story behind the band at the time of their signing over a decade ago.

Fans can expect a trailer for the film to drop on May 9, along with tickets for screenings available from the film’s website at 2 pm British Summer Time / 9 am Eastern Daylight Time / 6 pm Pacific Daylight Time. A soundtrack album will also be available to preorder from 2 pm British Summer Time on May 9.

In a recent interview with Metal Hammer magazine, Forge revealed that he has already begun work on a new album with a few completed songs. In a previous interview with NME, he spoke about the band’s covers EP Phantomine, saying that the project could “cast a glimpse as to where I want to go with the band now,” although it wouldn’t mean a sudden change in their sound
