Greater Manchester Police have identified the man whose remains were found wrapped in plastic at Kersal Dale nature reserve on April 4th, as Stuart Everett. This prompted a murder inquiry. Further searching resulted in the discovery of more remains at three other sites across Salford. DNA testing will be used to confirm the identity of the victim. Two men have been charged with murder.
Officers have continued to search the area, including an industrial lock-up in Bury, with a police presence in the areas. Family liaison officers are providing support to Mr. Everett’s family during this difficult time. Two men from Eccles have been charged with the murder of Mr. Everett. Police are confident that the remains found at other locations in Salford also belong to the same victim. Det Supt Lewis Hughes said that officers had “worked tirelessly” to unravel what had happened.
Michal Jaroslaw Polchowski, 68, and Marcin Majerkiewicz, 42, appeared at Tameside Magistrates Court on Monday. They were remanded to custody until their appearance at Manchester Crown Court on June 21st. A provisional date for a trial has been set for March 3rd, 2025.
At Mr. Everett’s home in the Winton area of Salford, police crime scene investigators continued their work, with two police cars and two police vans parked outside. Officers in white boiler suits and face masks entered the two-storey Victorian semi-detached house on a busy main road with a garden backing onto a children’s nursery.
