Co-op Live Manchester: A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie show set to open arena

After experiencing a number of delays and cancellations, Manchester’s Co-op Live arena has finally confirmed that it will open this week. With a price tag of £365m, the venue has already postponed its opening twice, causing comic Peter Kay to reschedule his opening shows and causing venue manager Gary Roden to resign.
This week, however, the UK’s largest indoor arena is set to open its doors on May 1st with an American rapper A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie. Following this, pop singer Olivia Rodrigo will play shows on May 3rd and 4th, with Keane playing on May 5th.
The Co-op Live arena has released a statement on X, confirming that the shows will go on as planned. The statement advises ticketholders that all the information they require regarding this week’s events will arrive via email by Tuesday.
The venue’s earlier cancellation of Peter Kay’s shows was due to a lack of time to test emergency communication systems. As a result of the need for further testing, Kay’s shows and a gig by US rock band The Black Keys, originally scheduled for April 27th, were both rescheduled for next month.
Invested in by Harry Styles and built by City Football Group and Oakview Music Group, the arena will boast a maximum capacity of 23,500. City Football Group is owned by UAE royal and deputy prime minister Sheikh Mansour, and Oakview Music Group was co-founded by US music mogul Irving Azoff
