The Rolling Stones have begun their 2024 ‘Hackney Diamonds’ tour in the US. The trio of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood opened their first night at the NRG Stadium with the ever-popular hits of ‘Start Me Up,’ ‘Paint It Black’ and ‘(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction’ among others. There was also a live debut for ‘Hackney Diamonds’ song ‘Mess It Up,’ with the first performance of ‘Little T&A’ since 2016. The band also performed for the first time the fan-favourite deep-cut ‘Out of Time’ live in the US. After the concert, the band took to Instagram to thank the audience for an amazing opening night.
The show marked the beginning of their 16-date North American tour in support of their latest album. The tour includes cities such as Las Vegas, Orlando, Chicago Los Angeles, and more throughout May, June and July.
The full setlist for the gigs includes some classics like ‘Angry,’ ‘Beast of Burden,’ ‘Gimme Shelter,’ and ‘Honky Tonk Women’ along with other hits from the new album. “Paint It Black” turned out to be a popular hit amongst the crowd. There were scores of live debuts together with old favourites that will make sure the audience is entertained.
Several support acts will accompany The Rolling Stones during their ‘Hackney Diamonds’ tour. The opening night was headlined by Gary Clark Jr., with another host of support acts set to perform on the remaining nights. A full list of tour dates is available on the official Ticketmaster website.
The new album has garnered praise from many critics worldwide, with NME describing ‘Hackney Diamonds’ as an “absolute barnstormer.” The review also added that “if ‘Hackney Diamonds’ does round off the most successful career in rock music ever, it wouldn’t be a bad place to leave it.
