At a Fenty Beauty Soft’lit Foundation event in Los Angeles, Rihanna provided an update on her much-anticipated ninth studio album. Speaking to Extra, she discussed a number of things including her son’s upcoming birthday, her wardrobe for the year’s MET Gala party and, of course, her upcoming music.
When asked about her new music, Rihanna explained that she wants it to be amazing and representative of her growth over the years. She stated, “If I’m not feeling it and I’m not feeling like it represents the evolution, the time I spent away. There should be a show of growth, right?”
The singer continued by stating that she wants to play with her music and make it fun. Rihanna added that she is not a big collaborator and that any collaborations would have to be very intentional. The singer further revealed that while she and A$AP Rocky have been working on new music, she already has enough hits in the pipeline.
Rihanna’s last full-length album was the 2016 release, Anti. The singer, who has been teasing her fans about new music since 2018, has been calling the follow-up, R9. Her latest release was the 2022 single “Lift Me Up,” which was part of the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack.
Fans of Rihanna will just have to wait a bit longer for her ninth studio album as the singer has continued to tease with no official release date as of yet
