K-pop act IVE has released their second mini-album, “IVE Switch,” featuring six new tracks, alongside a music video for their title track “Heya.” Both the album and music video were released on April 29th at 6 pm KST. The album features B-sides such as :”Blue Heart” penned by Wonyoung and “Accendio.”
The music video for “Heya” shows the six musicians moving through a colourful paper mache world as they perform the new upbeat song’s choreography. In her press statement, Wonyoung said the album was an attempt to show a “more expanded ‘different us'” based on the independent and confident appearance that they had previously acquired.
Furthermore, Wonyoung discussed “Blue Heart,” a song she wrote about the scrutiny female idols face in the K-pop industry. “The lyrics of the song focused on capturing IVE’s mature side, in line with [the album’s] concept. It gave me an opportunity to think about a different side of myself,” she said.
“IVE Switch” comes six months after the band’s last mini-album, “IVE Mine,” which also included B-side “OTT,” written solely by Wonyoung. IVE is currently in the middle of their first world tour, “Show What I Have,” which has taken them across North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. The band was also revealed as part of the line-up of Lollapalooza 2024 in Chicago.
